Second day
Today in class three groups presented their ancient greek projects including my group. Our presentations went pretty well i thought. at first, it was kind of funny but we had good information for it too. The other groups did well too. The second group did food in ancient Greek and they made a variation of greek pancakes and olives and cucumbers. it was pretty good but they did not taste like real pancakes. The last group made a model of spartans fighting and that was really good. Overall everyone who presented today did well.

First Day of presentations
Today in class we had our first group present their ancient Greece project. The project was very creative because it was about ancient women in Greece. The three main categories they had were weaving, cooking, and cosmetics. For the cosmetics, they tried to replicate the "make-up" they would use in ancient Greece and the routine. for example, they used olive oil and honey as a moisturizer. They also tried to be as pale as possible. For cooking, they made a greek cheesecake and lasagna. I have eaten greek lasagna before called pastitsio and it tasted different but it was still very good.

Sub Day
Today in class we had a substitute teacher so we had another mod to work on our project. I was late this morning and the teacher had me get a pass. My brother goes to Loyola and his carpool forgot him so my mom could not get our carpool in time. This made me and the carpool all late. We were mostly done our but we just needed to edit some things. This did not take us very long so we had quiet time to work on whatever we wanted. I did some other homework and played some games when I was done.

Final Project Day
Today in class we worked on our Ancient Greek Projects that are due Wednesday. This is our last class to work on them since we do not have this class tomorrow. My group is almost finished and we are just finishing our essay. We have filmed all the video and edited it. We also have a very funny bloopers video. I am excited to present even though the video itself is not the best, it is hard to replicate ancient Greece with all the modern elements of today. Also, we are not the best actors but we tried our best to make the most out of this video. Our paper is almost done and is about how we made this project and what elements we put into it. I liked this project because it informed us but was fun.

Test Day
Today in class we took a test on ancient Greece. I thought I did pretty well on this test and I hope it will bring my grade up. I studied a lot for it because I wanted to end the quarter with an A. The test was worth a lot of points so maybe it will bring my grade up a lot. Some things I did very well on I think were the map of greece. I had forgotten a couple things about the greek government but I hope I did ok. Other than that, I am excited for this to be my last class and for it to be friday.

Notes on Greek Project
We worked on our greek project today and I took some notes about Spartan women in Greece.
- Similar to the guys, girls were taken from their homes at age 7 and sent to school
- they learned wrestling, gymnastics, fighting, and other physical training
- Spartan women did not get married unitl 18-20 but did not live with their husbands until a lot later
- for the wedding night women cut their hair short and dressed in male clothing
- women in Sparta had much more freedom and independence than women in other greek city-states
- mothers had little responsibility for their children and they were not as tied to them as other women.
- their husbands were also a minor part of their lives
- even though, some cases were shown where families were close to each other

Greek Project
Today in class we were given a project to do about Ancient Greece. We were supposed to choose something in Ancient Greece and have a project about it. Our group decided to do life in Athens compared to Sparta as a child. Each of us are going to pick a Spartan girl or boy and an Athenian boy or girl and compare and contrast. I am going to be a Spartan girl in the project. We are going to research what different roles of people were in Ancient Greece. For example, Athenian girls did not have much freedom in life and they mostly just stayed at home until they were married. In contrast Spartan women were treated close to equal to the men, going to military school and training hard. I got this info from http://www.ancientathens.org/culture/children-ancient-athens.

More Notes on Greece
Today in class we took notes from the powerpoint. These are some of my notes: Politics consisted of no women, no middle class, and no slaves. Tyranny's had alliances with hoplites, or skilled soldiers, to make a government. The many different definitions of tyrants vary due to the time era.
- Tyrants are someone who rules outside the framework of the polis
- A tyrnant now means, an abusive leader
- a tyrant in ancient Greece meant someone who seized power
Draco (621 BC)
- all athenians are equal under the law
- death is a punishment for many crimes
- debt slavery is ok
- draconian means unnecessarily harsh
Solon's reforms
- outlawed debt slavery
- all athenian citizens can speak at the assemblies
- any citizen can press charges to submit laws for debate at the assembly
More reforms
- allowed all citizens to submit laws for debate at the assembly
- created council of 500 who were randomly chosen people

We took a few notes in class and read the textbook. My notes from the powerpoint and the first few pages of the textbook were greek government structures.
Polis: fundamental political city made up of a city or surrounding countryside
Monarchy: rule by a single person
aristocracy: rule by small groups of nobles and landowning families
oligarchy: wealthy groups ruled by a few powerful people who were dissatisfied with aristocratic rule
tyrant: powerful individuals who seized control by appealing to the common people for support
-good connotation who had good intentions

- Later, democracy was introduced to Greece and went through a few changes. People were arranged in political groups due to wealth but it was changed to location.
- Only sons of wealthy families could attend school where they learned book smarts along with logical skills. Girls could not attend school but other women figures taught them things to know around the house and becoming good wives.
- Sparta became a strong military state unlike most of the rest of Greece
- daily life of Spartans was all about training for the military which included women and men. Women had a pretty big role in daily life of Spartans especially when men were off to war

Notes On Greece
Today in class on march 6th we took notes on the greece like we did yesterday. My notes were 20% arable land was what covered Greece. The greek diet is grains, grapes, olives, and fish. The lack of resources of Greece essentially led to Greek colonization. The temperature in Greece is around 40-80 degrees but it can get pretty hot in the summer. Next, The Mycenaeans influences Greeks in 2000 bc. They were located on a rocky ridge of a Peloponnesus with a twenty foot thick wall. Their kong’s dominated Greece from 1600-1100 BC.

Notes on Greece
Today in class, on march 5th, we took notes on ancient greece. Some of the notes were on the different countries and the rivers they use as a source of water. The notes were from the powerpoint which I like a lot better than notes from the textbook. The notes from the powerpoint are way more organized and it helps me study. After we took notes on greece from the powerpoint we finished taking notes from the textbook. I do not like taking notes from the textbook as much because i feel like i am missing information even tho i’m not. I got to listen to music while I read the textbook so it is good.

Egypt Test Day
Today in class, on March 4, we had a test on Egypt. We were allowed to use our blogs for the test, which was good because I had written some notes and definitions of the worksheets we did in class. For example, I had written two short answer questions on my blog. The test was not too hard in my opinion and I would have done fine without my blogs but there were some questions that weren' t on my blog, the notes from the powerpoint, or the worksheet. We never went over where the Nile river flows into or a picture of an Egyptian Goddess. I think this was a little unfair if it was never in the powerpoint so we could not study it and remember the information. Overall, I hope I get a good grade so I can bring my grade back to an A.
