Whats going to be on the test

These are my notes that are going to be on the test:
Three cultures that founded Rome-
Etruscans
Greeks- used the resources of the Mediterranean sea
Latins- the first settlers
Important geographical landmarks are the tiber river and palentine hill
Tarquin the Proud was the seventh and final king because he was such a bad king. His son Sextus forced Lucretia on himself but when she refused he blackmailed her. This powerful women committed suicide because of it and Rome wanted republic now.

    • elected every year 
    • aristocrats 
  • Patricians dominated plebs 
  • SPQR-Senatus populus romanum 
    • means the senate and the people 
  • res publica- the peoples affairs
    • democracy 
    • aristocracy (senate- 300 members)

  • can appoint a dicator for 6 months

  • assemblies (members for life)

  • Praetors: chosen by centuriate assembly 
  • 1 year 
USA: 
  • supreme court- 9 members, lifetime term
  • appointed by the president and approved by the senate
Legal Code, rome: 
  • 12 tables 
    • displayed in public
    • gives rights to plebians
    • only free-born male citizens are protected by it 
USA
  • bill of rights- first 10 ammendments 
roman army: 
  • legion- made up of 5000 soldiers who get no pay 
  • century- group of 80 people with heavy infantry
